Wake-on-LAN
Create the command to turn on a computer or server remotely, for Linux, Windows, Python, and Home Assistant.
Wake-on-LAN turns on a computer with a special network message (the "magic packet"): six times FF, followed by the MAC address sixteen times. The message can only be sent from a device on the same network; a website cannot do that for you. Here you create the command you use for that on your own device or in Home Assistant.
Enable Wake-on-LAN first in the BIOS or UEFI of the computer. On Linux it may be necessary to run sudo ethtool -s eth0 wol g (replace eth0 with your network card). It works most reliably with a network cable, and usually not over wifi. If you cannot figure it out, check in your router settings whether the computer has a fixed IP address.
