Install programs (script)

Pick the programs for a new computer and get one script that installs them, for Windows (winget), macOS (Homebrew) and Debian or Ubuntu.

Tick programs below and your script appears here.

Also install automatically during a Windows or Ubuntu installation (advanced)

Create an answer file that answers the installer questions for you and installs your chosen programs right away. Put it next to the ISO on a USB stick (see the notes under the file). Test it in a virtual machine first, for example in VirtualBox or Proxmox.

What does this mean?

Choose the programs you want on a new computer and you get one script that installs them one after another. On Windows it uses winget, on macOS Homebrew and on Debian or Ubuntu apt and Flatpak. Handy after a clean install, for a new laptop or to put the same set on several computers. “Link to this selection” shares your list.

What this is not: we do not host installers. The script fetches everything directly from the publisher or the official package source, so you always get the current version. That also means a package name can change: if one fails, the script carries on and tells you which. Feel free to read the script before you run it. Emulators are included because they are perfectly fine; games (ROMs) you bring yourself and we do not link to them. Want to track achievements in old games? RetroAchievements works with RetroArch, DuckStation, PPSSPP, PCSX2, Dolphin and Flycast, among others; check there which version to use. Want to know what you need on a server? See the install guide.
