About us

geekstation.nl is a Dutch-language site for tech enthusiasts and makers: people who run a server at home, make their house smart, tinker with a Raspberry Pi or ESP32, or simply want to understand how their network works.

What will you find here?

  • Tools. More than forty free utilities for network, homelab, management and electronics, such as a subnet calculator, DNS lookup, wifi channel selector, Ohm’s law and a pinout for the ESP32. They work without an account and explain in plain language what the result means. Most calculate in your own browser; what goes to our server, we don’t save.
  • Guides. Step-by-step explanations about Home Assistant, Proxmox, Docker, networking, Raspberry Pi and retro gaming, among others.
  • News. Remarkable stories from the world of makers and technology, written in our own words and with source attribution.

How we work

We write in our own words and cite our sources. We don’t copy texts and images from others; we refer to the creator. At the bottom of a guide you’ll find links to the official documentation.

We use AI as a tool when preparing and summarizing texts. News articles are first prepared as a draft and only published after review. Automatic summaries of projects on GitHub are marked as such. Guides and settings can become outdated: always verify commands yourself and make a backup before changing anything.

Affiliate links

Some links to online stores are affiliate links. If you buy through such a link, we receive a small commission. You pay nothing extra.
